Terms of Service

By creating a writema account, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

writema is a private, end-to-end encrypted writing platform. You can write, organize, and export your work. We provide the tools; you own everything you create.

You must provide a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping your password and recovery key secure.

Important: Because writema uses zero-knowledge encryption, losing both your password and recovery key means permanent loss of access to your encrypted content. We cannot recover it for you.

You retain full ownership of everything you write. We claim no rights to your content — no licenses, no implied permissions, nothing. Your words are yours.

You are responsible for ensuring your content does not violate applicable law (e.g., copyright infringement, illegal material under Czech and EU law).

Your content is encrypted in your browser before it reaches our servers. We cannot read, moderate, or filter your encrypted content.

We use industry-standard cryptographic methods (Argon2id key derivation, AES-256-GCM encryption, Web Crypto API). However, no system is perfectly secure. You are encouraged to keep your password strong and your recovery key safe.

You agree not to:

• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the service
• Use the service for illegal activities under Czech or EU law
• Resell or sublicense access without permission

Accounts used for abuse may be terminated without notice.

writema offers a free tier with core writing features. Premium features may be introduced in the future and will be governed by separate terms at that time. Free features will remain free.

We strive for uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, updates, and unforeseen events may cause temporary outages. We are not liable for data loss resulting from factors beyond our control — which is why we encourage you to export your work regularly.

You can delete your account at any time. Deletion permanently removes all associated data, including encrypted content, within 30 days. This action is irreversible.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or applicable law.

writema is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Given the zero-knowledge architecture, we specifically cannot be held liable for loss of access to encrypted content due to lost passwords or recovery keys.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. Disputes will be resolved in Czech courts.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
